Daily Recommended Dosage: Take 1-2 tablets per day, or as recommended by your certified health care provider. If your SAMe levels are deficient and to determine the proper dose that works for you, use an initial loading phase of 1200mg-1600mg (3-5 tablets) daily (maximum 1600mg/day) for up to two weeks then reduce daily intake to 400mg-800mg (1-2 tablets), until benefits are achieved.

Administration of K-9 V Tablets
Because the tablet must be kept intact to prevent destruction by moisture, administration range is based on the nearest whole-tablet. The chart below is provided as a guide for administration. Daily administration may also be calculated based on 20 mg/kg of body weight and rounded to the closest tablet size or combination of sizes.

Many pets are maintained long-term on ever-other-day or every-third-day administration.
For optimal absorption, tablets should be given on an empty stomach, at least one hour before feeding, as the presence of food decreases the absorption of S-Adenosylmethionine. Studies have shown that, in many cases, tablets or capsules given as a “dry swallow” do not pass into the stomach in cats but may become lodged in the esophagus. It is recommended for pet owners to administer 3-6 cc of water immediately following any tablet administration to speed passage of the tablet into the stomach.6,7 K-9 V 225 mg tablets broken in half are ideal for cats because of their small size. If the pet is to receive more than one tablet daily, the total number of tablets may be divided between morning and evening for ease of administration. For example, a daily administration of three tablets could be divided into two tablets in the morning and one tablet in the evening.

Packaging
Aluminum-Aluminum tamper resistance blister card. Azendus SAMe tablets should be kept in the blister card until you take them. Do not take tablet, if the blister card compartment for that tablet has been tampered or compromised.

“Recent studies on SAMe rated its effectiveness in depressed postmenopausal women. During a 30-day period, researchers measured the effects that taking 1,600 milligrams per day or placebo had on 80 women between the ages of 45 and 59. After the 30-day period, the researchers discovered that there was a significantly greater improvement in depressive symptoms in the group of women who consumed SAMe, compared to the placebo group. When side effects were observed they were only mild and transient.
A study conduced by researcher M. Fava using 400 milligrams of SAMe per day, found that depressive symptoms were remitted within two weeks. Fava also reported that during the study periods no serious adverse effects were observed. This research indicates that SAMe is a safe and relatively fast-acting antidepressant.”
